THE MOST SIGNIFICANT GLAZING REVOLUTION IN DECADES YEARS HAS NOW ARRIVED IN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND
Have you ever wanted to source a transparent glazing material with the following features and benefits:
- Virtually unbreakable
- Optical properties better than glass
- Half the weight of glass
- Surface abrasion resistance as good as glass – windscreen wiper resistant for heavy equipment and mass transit applications
- The ability to be cut, drilled and fabricated on or off site
- The ability to be supplied in a 3D shapes with compound curves, black frit printing and surface abrasion resistance as good glass
GAT Technologies is proud to be the exclusive distribution partner for RENIAS CO., LTD. based in Hiroshima, Japan.
RENIAS CO., LTD. is the only company to employ a revolutionary manufacturing process with World’s largest injection compression moulding machine to make large format polycarbonate sheeting that is virtually optically perfect with no ripple orientation, virtually no distortion and with a surface abrasion resistant coating as good as glass.
The brand name of this product is Rencraft®.
Rencraft® Glass will revolutionise the glazing industry in ways that could have only been imaged previously.
Any application, regardless of industry or market, that has been using any type of transparent glazing begrudgingly, including glass or glass laminates, now has a viable alternative with these unique Rencraft® features and benefits, that are not available with any other product.
Glass is a great glazing product, but with some obvious drawbacks:
- Glass can be broken during transportation, installation or in situ
- Glass cannot be cut, drilled or modified on site – if measurements are incorrect or glass is made incorrectly, depending on what type of glass it is, it needs to be remade or resized off site
- Some types of glass, especially laminated versions, can have inherent optical/visual distortion
- Lead times on some types of flat bespoke glass, including laminates can be very long
- Curved or bent glass can be price prohibitive with extremely long lead times
- Relatively heavy with specialised equipment required for some applications
- Rencraft® Glass is virtually unbreakable during transportation, installation or in situ – it has a 15 year limited warranty on breakage, excessive haze, coating failure, excessive yellowing or excessive loss of light transmission (warranty document available upon request)
- Rencraft® Glass can be cut, drilled, or modified on site using common wood working tools
- Rencraft® Glass has virtually no optical/visual distortion
- Rencraft® Glass can be supplied from stock in flat sheet cut to any profile or shape using our in-house CNC equipment with customer supplied DXF drawings
- Rencraft® Glass can be supplied in 3D shapes with compound curves, black frit printed and surface abrasion resistance as good glass
- Rencraft® Glass is half the weight of equivalent thickness glass
Traditional polycarbonate sheet is manufactured using the extrusion process, with ripple orientation and visual distortion being a characteristic on the sheet surfaces, especially on the thicker gauges up to the 12.7mm maximum gauge.
Rencraft® Glass virtually eliminates these distortion characteristics, with the added bonus of being available up to 23mm in monolithic sheet (no laminations), and with a surface as abrasion resistant as glass (windscreen wiper resistant).
This allows design flexibility for not only replacing glass and other transparent glazing products with Rencraft® Glass, but also for substituting traditional extruded and/or laminated polycarbonate for critical or demanding windscreen or other glazing applications.
It is currently being used in applications such as:
- Forestry machinery cabin protection – John Deere use Rencraft® Glass as standard offering on their new G-Series harvesters and G-Series forwarders
- Golf Cart and small machinery such as Compact Track Loaders and forklifts
- Automotive Glazing
- Bullet Train windows
- Bus and Coach windows, sunroofs and driver protection screens / partitions
